If there’s one thing that really separates The Walking Dead from other zombie tales, besides it’s continuous storyline, it’s the setting of Atlanta, Georgia. Both the television series and the comic are wholly immersed in the setting, so much so that it’s always a delight to hear counties and cities get name dropped. Now, The Walking Dead is really coming to Atlanta as Skybound, co-creator Robert Kirkman’s imprint at Image Comics, will visit the setting of the series with its one-of-a-kind immersive zombie obstacle course experience, The Walking Dead Escape, on May 31st at the Philips Arena.
The course, which has already thrilled tens of thousands of participants since its debut, allows fans to participate as “Walkers” or “Survivors” as they climb, crawl, and slide their way through various zombie-infected evacuation zones. Those lucky enough to make it to the decontamination zone will have their level of infection assessed and then participate in the event’s Fan Experience. Those participating as Walkers will be transformed into the undead by professional makeup artists, and they’ll receive “zombie training” prior to their release on the course. Keeping in the spirit of entertainment and accessibility to all, The Walking Dead Escape is not a race, and its participants will not be timed or required to run. Tickets can be purchased via TheWalkingDeadEscape.com or Tickets.com.
But that’s not all, SuperHeroHype will actually be present and taking part in the event next weekend! Hopefully we’ll live to tell you all about it.
