Following a report last week that Star Wars: Episode VII would shoot for two weeks in Morocco comes word, via The Hollywood Reporter, that four weeks are now being targeted in Abu Dhabi. It is unclear whether or not this would replace plans to film in Morocco or if both locations will be utilized, likely doubling for Tatooine, the desert planet that has appeared in every chapter of the Star Wars saga except The Empire Strikes Back.
Scripted by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, Star Wars: Episode VII will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and will follow a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew and Harrison Ford are all heavily rumored to appear as older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy, while names like Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o and John Boyega are believed to be among the project’s fresh faces. At this time, however, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have only confirmed a single star: R2-D2.
With this past weekend‘s revelation that Star Wars: Episode VII is already in production, expect some additional confirmations regarding the much-anticipated release in the very near future and check back for full details as they become available.
