The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, which 20th Century Fox opens today, has grossed an estimated $3.4 million from its midnight screenings last night, compared to the $3.3 million grossed by Marvel Studios' Thor in midnights last month. Thor went on to gross $65.7 million in its opening weekend, although one would generally expect that the X-Men prequel would do bigger business at midnight being a prequel to a popular franchise and with all the buzz it's received. On the other hand, the X-Men prequel is likely to have more of a female audience who wouldn't necessarily rush out to see it at midnight so it probably will even out and doing in the same general ballpark.
