Chris Pratt wasn’t included in the recent Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement; however, there’s still a chance the Star-Lord actor could appear in the forthcoming MCU movie.
On March 26, 2025, Marvel Studios revealed 27 actors who would be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in United States theaters next year. Pratt’s name was noticeably missing from the list. After debuting as Star-Lord in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt went on to appear in a number of other Marvel projects, including the two Guardians of the Galaxy sequels, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
Why wasn’t Chris Pratt included in the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement?
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Pratt wasn’t listed in the Avengers: Doomsday cast because he’s filming The Terminal List Season 2 for Amazon Prime Video.
Pratt plays a character named James Reece in that show, which is based on Jack Carr’s 2018 novel of the same name. The first season of The Terminal List premiered in July 2022, while a release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced. Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch, and Riley Keough star in the series alongside Pratt.
“However, if the Russos can catch him at the tail end of shooting, he might be able to swing it — it just depends on a variety of factors,” Sneider wrote. “But if Marvel needs to proceed without him, it is more than prepared to do so.”
It’s worth noting that no other Guardians of the Galaxy stars were announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast; although, Peter left the Guardians, named Rocket as the new team captain, and then returned to Earth at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, meaning there could be a role from in the movie that doesn’t require his former teammates’ presence.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026.
