New information and rumors about Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland have emerged.
Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in Marvel Studios and Sony’s Spider-Man 4, which is scheduled to be released in July 2026. It was previously announced that Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink will star in the movie, though it has not yet been officially confirmed who she is playing.
On March 26, 2025, Marvel revealed the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, with Holland’s name noticeably missing. While the company is already teasing that there may be other recognizable faces who appear in the movie that haven’t been announced yet, a recent report from Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider suggests that Holland won’t be one of them.
What is the latest Spider-Man 4 update?
According to Sneider, Holland likely won’t be in Avengers: Doomsday — not because he’s filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey at the same time that the Russo Brothers’ MCU ensemble movie is in production, but rather because Spider-Man 4 could take “place at the same time as Doomsday.”
Official plot details for both Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man 4 remain under wraps at this time; however, Sneider also mentioned a new rumor about who the villain in Holland’s movie could be.
“The latest [rumor] has Chameleon as the villain — only they won’t necessarily be called ‘Chameleon’ because that character recently appeared in Kraven the Hunter, even though that movie barely scratched the surface of the character’s potential,” Sneider wrote. “You can take that one with a grain of salt, but that’s how it was described to me by one source.”
The Chameleon character was played by Fred Hechinger in 2024’s Kraven the Hunter, a film that was not well received by fans and critics and only made $62 million at the global box office.
Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026. Avengers: Doomsday, meanwhile, is scheduled for May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars arrives on May 7, 2027.
