Venom: The Last Dance Director Teases More ‘Symbiote Stories in the Canon’

Venom: The Last Dance director Kelly Marcel says there are “lots” of symbiote stories left to tell following the third Tom Hardy superhero movie.

Venom: The Last Dance will be released in United States theaters this coming weekend. Hardy is reprising his role as Eddie Brock/Venom in the film, which will be the last entry in the Venom trilogy.

Speaking at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 18, 2024, via Variety, Marcel discussed how the forthcoming movie sets up Knull as a new villain and how his introduction creates “lots of places to go.”

What did Venom: The Last Dance’s Kelly Marcel say about Knull and more symbiote stories?

“This is just the introduction to Knull,” Marcel said. “He’s a massive, massive character so you can never be one-and-done with him. This is just a little taster of Knull. We get to meet him. What the future holds for him, who knows? The plot for Eddie and Venom closes here. But as you know, there are lots of symbiote stories in the canon. There are lots of places to go, and maybe there are a few Easter eggs in here that might start that journey off.”

Along with Hardy, Venom: The Last Dance stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham.

“In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy,” the synopsis for the movie reads. “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”

Venom: The Last Dance will be released in United States movie theaters on October 25, 2024, from Sony Pictures Releasing.
