Bane and Deathstroke Are Getting a DC Movie, Writer Announced

Bane and Deathstroke are getting their own DC movie.

Joker: Folie à Deux is releasing in United States theaters on October 4, 2024. The Penguin, which serves as a spin-off to The Batman and stars Colin Farrell as the villainous Oz Cobb, also released its first episode last week, with the second episode dropping on September 29, 2024.

Now, per The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios is developing another project involving DC villains as a movie featuring both Bane and Deathstroke is in the works.

What do we know about the Bane and Deathstroke movie?

At this time, it’s not immediately clear if the Bane and Deathstroke movie will be set in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU or if, like the Joker movies and The Penguin, it will be set in its own separate universe.

Nonetheless, DC Studios is developing the project with a script from Matthew Orton. Orton is credited as a writer on Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World, which releases in United States theaters on February 14, 2025. He also created the Devil’s Peak television series and worked on Marvel’s Moon Knight series, while he additionally wrote the screenplay for 2018’s Operation Finale starring Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley.

No director is attached to the project at this time. Casting information has not yet been announced and plot details remain under wraps.

Created by Chuck Dixon and Graham Nolan, Bane first appeared in 1993’s Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1. He has appeared in live-action projects several times before, as he was portrayed by Robert Swenson and Michael Reid MacKay in 1997’s Batman & Robin, Tom Hardy in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, and Shane West in Gotham.

Deathstroke, meanwhile, is both a Teen Titans and Batman villain who was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. He was played by Joe Manganiello in the post-credit scene of 2017’s Justice League, while Manu Bennett played Slade Wilson in The CW’s Arrow.
