Matthias Schoenaerts Lands Villain Role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

The Regime actor Matthias Schoenaerts has been tapped to play a villain role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set to hit cinemas on June 26, 2026. 

Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) will play the titular role. She is also expected to make an appearance in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, starring David Corenswet. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will serve as the second feature set in the DCU, arriving less than a year after Superman’s theatrical release. 

Who will Matthias Schoenaerts play in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?

Schoenaerts is set to play antagonist Krem of the Yellow Hills, a swordsman and archer responsible for killing a young alien girl’s family and for shooting superpet Krypto. The film adaptation will center on Supergirl, whose help is enlisted by the girl who wants exact revenge for her family. 

Directed by Cruella filmmaker Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the upcoming Supergirl movie is adapted from the DC comic series of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. 

Other details about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow are being kept close to the vest, but it is confirmed to be starting production around this year or in early 2025. 

Apart from starring in The Regime opposite Kate Winslet, the Belgian actor is best known for his performances in Loft, Bullhead, Rust and Bone, The Drop, Disorder, Far from the Madding Crowd, The Danish Girl, Red Sparrow, The Mustang, and The Old Guard. 

His other credits include Daens, Any Way the Wind Blows, Ellektra, Love Belongs to Everyone, Black Book, Left Bank, My Queen Karo, The Pack, The Gang of Oss, Death of a Shadow, Blood Ties, Suite Française, A Bigger Splash, Django, Our Souls at Night, A Hidden Life, The Laundromat, Amsterdam, and more. 

Schoenaerts was also nominated and even won multiple awards in various award-giving bodies, including the Berlin International Film Festival and the César Award, among others. 

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hits theaters on June 26.
