The other Joker: Folie á Deux sees Phoenix, director Todd Phillips, and Lady Gaga discuss how music will play a role in the movie. It was previously confirmed that the new Joker movie will feature several musical numbers that were performed live.
“We started talking about music very early on,” Phoenix said. “We wanted it to feel dirty in a way that people don’t typically see. We had to perform live and perform the songs in a way that maybe weren’t the most beautiful renditions. There was something very exciting about that.”
Phillips added, “It always wanted to feel like stuff Arthur knew growing up that maybe his mom played.”
