Deleted Deadpool & Wolverine Scene Teases Channing Tatum’s Gambit’s MCU Future

A deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine teases a greater role in the MCU for Channing Tatum’s Gambit.

Deadpool & Wolverine was released in United States theaters in July 2024. Directed by Shawn Levy, the Marvel Studios movie sees Tatum finally get to play the role of Gambit; a character he’s wanted to portray for many years.

What happens in the Deadpool & Wolverine deleted scene?

Ryan Reynolds, who plays Wade Wilson in the movie, shared a Deadpool & Wolverine deleted scene that confirms Gambit survived the battle in the Void. More than that, the end of the scene sees an inter-dimensional portal opening in the reflection of the X-Men character’s eyes.

This means that Gambit has presumably left the Void and now could be anywhere in Marvel’s multiverse, which leaves the door open for him to return in future projects.

Reynolds noted, “A version of this sequence is in the film, playing on one of the monitors in deep background of the TVA.”

While Tatum has attempted to get a Gambit solo movie off the ground for many years, he’s been vocal about how he hopes that his role in Deadpool & Wolverine could finally make his dream a reality.

He’s also been vocal about his appreciation toward Reynolds for finally letting him play the character.

Tatum wrote in an Instagram post shortly after the movie was released, “I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But [Reynolds] fought for me and Gambit. I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy. Shawn Levy as well. Truly such a brilliant creator on every single level. All things happen for a reason. I’m so grateful to be in this movie.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in United States theaters.
