Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con Plans Detailed by Kevin Feige

Marvel has officially announced its plans for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, with Kevin Feige detailing what Marvel Studios has in store for its big return to the convention.

Speaking to Deadline, Feige was asked about Marvel’s plans and revealed that the company will take a bit of a different approach than in years past. Unlike previous years, Feige said that Marvel will be designing its film schedules around what they have ready to show at Comic-Con, and instead focus on things coming “over the next couple of years.”

What are Marvel’s plans at SDCC?

“We build movie schedules often times, and obviously with the pandemic and the strike that threw a wrench into it for a few years,” said Feige. “But what we’re able to do this time is to get back to literally designing our film schedules around what we would have ready to show at Comic-Con; to announce and set the expectations and the tonality of what’s to come over the next couple of years. And that starts in Hall H. I think Hall H has become such an iconic venue that people who’ve never been to Comic-Con know what Hall H is or know that Hall H stands for the unveiling of important, fun pop culture moments.”

As far as panels go, Marvel Studios will actually have two this year at San Diego Comic-Con. On July 25, a standalone Deadpool & Wolverine panel will take place with stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy in attendance. Then, on July 27, Marvel Studios will take to Hall H for what promises to be one of the most highly anticipated panels of the weekend.

In past years, Marvel Studios has had several surprises in store for fans, including surprise announcements like the reveal of Blade and more. Looking at the upcoming known slate of projects, Marvel Studios could discuss Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four, or even the next two Avengers films planned for 2026 and 2027.
