Who else stars in Marvel’s Thunderbolts*?

Harbour is reprising his role as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, a character that was introduced in 2021’s Black Widow, in Thunderbolts*. The cast of the movie also includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava/Starr/Ghost, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

Lewis Pullman and Geraldine Viswanathan are also starring in the movie.

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige previously confirmed that the asterisk featured in Thunderbolts* was officially part of the film’s title; however, what it means remains unclear at this time. Feige said that “we won’t talk more about that until after the movie comes out” when speaking at CinemaCon 2024 in May.

Thunderbolts* is directed by Jake Schreier, who previously made 2012’s Robot & Frank and 2015’s Paper Towns. Production on the Marvel film was delayed in 2023 because of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike, which caused Steven Yeun (replaced by Pullman) and Ayo Edebiri (replaced by Viswanathan) to drop out of the project.

Thunderbolts* will be released in United States theaters on May 5, 2025, as part of Phase 5 of the MCU. Prior to that, Deadpool & Wolverine is releasing on July 26, 2024, followed by Captain America: Brave New World on February 14, 2025. After Thunderbolts* comes The Fantastic Four on July 25, 2025, and Blade on November 7, 2025.
