Superman’s James Gunn Reveals How Much of DCU Movie Has Been Filmed

James Gunn says that 2025’s Superman is about halfway through filming.

In a recent Instagram post, Gunn was asked in the comments when the first trailer for 2025’s Superman would be released and if it would potentially be ready to play in front of July 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Production on the film began on February 29, 2024, which is the Man of Steel’s canonical birthday.

Gunn responded to the comment, “We’re only a little over halfway thru shooting.”

Superman will be the first official film entry in Gunn and Safran’s forthcoming DCU; although, prior to that, an animated Creature Commandos series will first be released in 2024.

Gunn’s Superman will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025, as part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
