Fantastic Four: Joseph Quinn Talks Matt Shakman’s ‘Brilliant Vision’

Joseph Quinn is ecstatic for Matt Shakman‘s take on Marvel StudiosThe Fantastic Four.

“It’s mad. I’m really excited! I still can’t believe it. We have a great gang,” Quinn said during an appearance at Facts Comic-Con (via @Pajaritobluu on X). “When I spoke to Matt, the director, he had a brilliant vision for this, and the gang that we have, it was an easy decision. I definitely wanted to be a part of it.”

Best known for his star-making turn as Eddie Munson on Stranger Things: Season 4, Quinn was announced in February to play Johnny Storm/Human Torch for the highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe project. When asked how he plans to prepare for the hot-headed superhero, Quinn joked about his method acting approach to it. “I’ll be setting myself on fire for real, every day. Yeah, gotta feel it, you know?”

What is The Fantastic Four about?

Plot details for The Fantastic Four remain under wraps. But the era of the upcoming MCU installment has been teased to be set in the early ’60s based on the artwork featuring Ben Grimm/The Thing reading a Life Magazine issue with then-U.S. President Lyndon Johnson. Additionally, reports regarding the movie’s villains have speculated that Javier Bardem (Dune) has been in talks to play Galactus, while Doctor Doom is rumored to appear in a cameo rather than a leading role.

Directed by Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, The Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm. Additionally, Julia Garner will play a “Shalla-Bal version” of the Silver Surfer.

The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025.
