Fantastic Four: Red, White & Royal Blue Star Confirms He Had ‘Conversations’ for Marvel Movie

Red, White & Royal Blue’s Nicholas Galitzine has confirmed he had “conversations” with Marvel about playing Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four.

Speaking with Variety, Galitzine said he was having conversations about playing Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four. The role ultimately went to Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn, something that Galitzine knew before the official announcement was made as the two of them are friends.

Along with playing Prince Henry in 2023’s Red, White & Royal Blue, Galitzine played Timmy Andrews in 2020’s The Craft: Legacy, Prince Robert in 2021’s Cinderella, and Jeff in 2023’s Bottoms. He’ll next be seen alongside Anne Hathaway in The Idea of You, which releases on Prime Video on May 2, 2024.

Who is starring in The Fantastic Four with Joseph Quinn?

In February 2024, Marvel Studios announced that, in addition to Quinn’s Johnny Storm, The Fantastic Four will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Marvel then announced in April 2024 that Ozark’s Julia Garner will play a “Shalla-Bal version” of the Silver Surfer. The screenplay comes from Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.

The role of Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom has not yet been announced; although, the villainous character reportedly won’t have a large presence in the movie, as it’s currently believed that Galactus will serve as the main antagonist for Marvel’s First Family to face.

There’s also speculation that The Fantastic Four could be set in the past given that the photo that Marvel released when the cast was announced seems to hint at a 1960s kind of vibe.

The Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to release in United States theaters on July 25, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
