Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sequel

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Director Already Has Plans for Another Sequel

Adam Wingard already has some ideas for a Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sequel.

Speaking with Discussing Film, Wingard, who directed 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong and the forthcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, said he would be interested in making another movie so long as The New Empire performs well at the box office.

“The whole idea that if you’ve done two movies, like, maybe you should just go ahead and do a third because, as you said, there’s a trilogy in there,” Wingard said. “I definitely think there’s more story to this, and I think that I have more story to tell. But it just depends on how [Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire] does and how things kind of shape out. I know that sounds like a bulls*** diplomatic answer (laughs). But the truth is, If I’m going to be completely honest with you, I do have more story to tell with these monsters and I know where I’d go with it. I would be very excited to be able to come back on for another one if things worked out!”

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire releases later this month

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is scheduled to release in United States theaters on March 29, 2024. The movie is written by Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett, and Jeremy Slater.

“The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own,” the official synopsis reads. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
