The Batman 2 Release Date Delayed a Year for DC Sequel

Fans of Matt Reeves‘ take on Batman are in for a shock, as The Batman: Part II’s release date has been pushed back a year.

An email from Warner Bros. has revealed that The Batman: Part II has had its release date moved from October 3, 2025 to October 2, 2026. This move means the DC sequel has been delayed nearly an entire year, with only a day’s difference. Deadline‘s sources have noted that the delay is a result of last year’s lengthy entertainment industry strikes.

The Batman Part II is once again being directed by Reeves. Robert Pattinson will return as The Dark Knight/Bruce Wayne, while further casting has not been announced at this time. A spin-off series, The Penguin, that follows Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot is also releasing in 2024.

The Batman Part II now has an October 2, 2026 release date. The Batman, released in 2022, is currently streaming on Max and Netflix.

What is The Batman about?

“Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City,” reads the first film’s synopsis. “With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth, Lt. James Gordon — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.”
