While not a whole lot is known about the upcoming The Fantastic Four movie, eagle-eyed fans have spotted clues that may point to the film’s setting.
Earlier today, Marvel Studios revealed the official promotional art for the upcoming film, alongside casting information. In the image, Marvel’s first family can be seen lounging around, with Ben Grimm/The Thing (to be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach) reading what looks to be an issue of Life Magazine.
As spotted by fans, the specific issue that Ben is reading looks to be one from December 1963, which sees then-President Lyndon Johnson standing at the White House desk. This has caused many fans to believe the film will be set in the 1960s, something that had been rumored for some time.
What do we know about The Fantastic Four?
As confirmed by Marvel Studios, Pedro Pascal will indeed play Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, while Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn has the role of Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach has the part of Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. As a project in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025.
The Fantastic Four comic debuted in 1961. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, it was the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics and popularized famous characters like Reed Richards, Sue Storm and Doctor Doom.
