Concept art for the now-defunct DCEU shows what Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern costume would have looked like.
On Instagram, DC concept artist Jerad S. Marantz showed off some concept art images that he and costume designer Michael Wilkinson came up with for Hal Jordan/Green Lantern’s DCEU look.
“I had an incredible time working on Justice League,” Marantz said. “It was such a long time ago, but still remains as one of the most artistically fulfilling jobs of my career. It was a great team of artists working in both the US and UK. Working with Costume designer Michael Wilkinson was wonderful. He’s definitely one of the best in the business. Here are some early concepts for the green lantern suit. It was such an honor to take on one of my favorite branches of the DC universe.”

What is Green Lantern’s DCEU history?
The 2011 Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds was originally intended to kick off a new DC shared universe; however, following the film’s financial and critical failure, the studio scrapped the idea and began the DCEU with 2013’s Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder.
In July 2015, Warner Bros. revealed plans to make a Green Lantern Corps movie. David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes signed on to write and produce the movie in January 2017, while Geoff Johns and Jon Berg were going to serve as executive producers.
The movie never came to fruition, as neither Hal nor John Stewart ever ended up debuting in the DCEU; however, Green Lantern Yalan Gur made brief appearances in both 2017’s Justice League and 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
With the DCEU having officially concluded with 2023’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, James Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU will include a Lanterns series featuring Jordan and Stewart. Nathan Fillion is also playing Guy Gardner, a fan-favorite Green Lantern, in 2025’s Superman: Legacy.
