Thanos MCU Return Teased by Josh Brolin

Josh Brolin’s Thanos is one of the most iconic villains in any movie, and although the character seemed to have perished in Avengers: Endgame, Brolin teased we could see him again.

Speaking to ComicBook.com recently, Brolin was asked about the possibility of Thanos showing up again, and surprisingly revealed that he heard there may be plans for it.

“You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they’re gonna bring him back,” Brolin said. “And there’s the What If…? series and that’s a different kind of Thanos and all that. But I don’t know in the Marvel world whether they’re going to bring him back, but I didn’t know that he was the most killed-off Marvel villain . . . You learn something new every day.”

Brolin has played Thanos in nearly every MCU iteration of the character

The character of Thanos was first introduced to the MCU in 2012’s The Avengers, where he appears mainly as a CGI character in a brief post-credits scene and had no lines.

Brolin would take over for the role soon after and made his first appearance in a post-credits scene in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. He would play the character for five years after, culminating in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, in which the character was seemingly killed by Iron Man.

After his appearances in the live-action films, Brolin would go on to reprise his role as Thanos in two episodes of Marvel’s What If…? Disney+ series, both in Season 1 and Season 2 of the hit animated series.
