Report: Shawn Levy’s Star Wars Movie Could Feature Rey Skywalker

A new report is suggesting that Rey Skywalker could appear in the upcoming Star Wars movie from Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy.

Over at The InSneider (subscription required but encouraged), Jeff Sneider reported that he’s heard there’s a possibility of Levy’s Star Wars project involving Daisy Ridley’s Rey in some capacity. Sneider explained that if Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy were to step away from the Rey-focused movie for any reason, Levy could potentially step in since his project might also feature the character. He does note that Levy’s schedule is likely packed, however, so it may not be possible regardless.

News of Levy’s involvement with Star Wars surfaced in November 2022, with the director confirming the report on his Twitter. Though Levy’s film is in development, it has not been officially named or dated by Lucasfilm.

The upcoming Rey Skywalker movie is being directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

What was the most recent Star Wars movie to release in theaters?

As of now, the last Star Wars film released in theaters was also 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. The film grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, but the final installment in the sequel trilogy was the lowest-growing and received mixed reviews from fans and critics.
