Supergirl: 3 Actresses to Be Test Screened to Play DCU Hero

Three actresses are apparently being looked at to screen test for the role of the DC Universe‘s Supergirl — Kara Zor-El.

A report from Deadline says that Meg Donnelly, Emilia Jones, and Milly Alcock are likely to partake in screen tests to play Supergirl. Though a search for a director for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is still taking place, an actress is wanted since the character may appear in another project in the DCU prior to her solo movie.

According to the outlet, the screen tests will probably occur in the next month, and Superman: Legacy director and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is “definitely part of the process.”

The two most recent actresses to play Supergirl prior to the shift at DC Studios were Melissa Benoist in The CW’s Supergirl series and Sasha Calle in 2022’s The Flash.

What will happen in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?

Though no official synopsis for the movie has been revealed, Gunn outlined the general story of the comic it’s based on when he announced the new DCU.

Superman is a guy sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, where Supergirl in this story, she is a character raised on a chunk of Krypton,” Gunn explained. “She watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way, so she’s a much more jaded character.”
