Mark Hamill Met His Star Wars ‘Mother’ at the Golden Globes

Mark Hamill has finally met Natalie Portman, who played the role of Padmé Amidala — Luke Skywalker’s mother — in the Star Wars franchise.

On Twitter, Hamill posted a photo of himself and Portman, who were both at last night’s Golden Globes award show. In the caption, Hamill joked that he finally met his “mother,” as Portman played Padmé in the Star Wars prequels. Having previously met Anakin actor Hayden Christensen, Hamill has now officially been photographed with both of his on-screen Star Wars parents.

Which Star Wars movies was Natalie Portman in?

Portman played Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Though the character died at the end of the third film, she gives birth to Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa shortly before.

Padmé has since appeared in several other pieces of Star Wars media, including the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where she was voiced by Catherine Taber. Numerous books in the new canon feature her, including the 2019 novels Queen’s Peril and Queen’s Shadow, as well as 2022’s Queen’s Hope.
