Todd Phillips has shared two new images from Joker: Folie à Deux.
On Instagram, Phillips shared two new images featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga from the upcoming Joker sequel. The first photo sees Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck in Arkham Asylum, while the other offers a new look at Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn.

What do we know about Joker: Folie à Deux?
A sequel to 2019’s Joker, Joker: Folie à Deux will see Phoenix reprise his role as the Clown Prince of Crime, while Lady Gaga is playing Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz is also returning as Sophie Dumond, while Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey have been cast in undisclosed roles.
It was previously revealed that Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical.
Along with directing, Phillips co-wrote the script for Joker: Folie à Deux with Scott Silver. He also produces the movie with Bradley Cooper.
“Something I appreciate about Todd Phillips — who I’ve done seven movies with, including Joker — is that he’s always taking risks,” cinematographer Lawrence Sher told Definition Magazine about the movie in October 2023. “We’ve got the new Joker coming out next year and we’re just finishing up post-production on it. This movie is a big swing and it’s going to be really surprising to people. I’m so excited for everyone to see it.”
DC Films’ Joker quickly became a massive box office success following its October 2019 release, as it went on to make $1.074 billion at the global box office off an estimated $55-70 million budget. It was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, with Phoenix winning for Best Actor and Hildur Guðnadóttir winning for Best Original Score.
Joker: Folie á Deux hits United States theaters on October 4, 2024.
