Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Writer Revealed for DC Studios Movie

DC Studios has found the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer for the upcoming DC Universe movie.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Ana Nogueira is set to write Supergirl: Woman of tomorrow for DC Studios. This doesn’t come as too big of a surprise, as she was hired as a project writer for DC Studios back in June. The outlet also notes that she was originally set to write a Supergirl movie as a spin-off of The Flash prior to DC’s restructuring.

Nogueira is both a writer and an actor. She wrote the 2016 play Empathitrax and wrote and starred in the 2018 short film We Win. Alongside being set to adapt the short story Mothers, Lock Up Your Daughters, Nogueira penned a play titled Which Way to the Stage. As an actor, she has appeared on shows like Hightown, The Vampire Diaries, The Blacklist, and The Michael J. Fox Show.

What is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow about?

Though no official synopsis for the movie has been revealed, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn outlined the general story of the comic it’s based on when he announced the new DC Universe.

Superman is a guy sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, where Supergirl in this story, she is a character raised on a chunk of Krypton,” Gunn explained. “She watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way, so she’s a much more jaded character.”
