Netflix has revealed a new official trailer for director Zack Snyder‘s anticipated space opera film Rebel Moon.
Released to cap off Netflix’s Geeked week, the new Rebel Moon trailer centers on Sofia Boutella‘s Kora, who assembles a team of warriors to fight back against the tyrannical Mother World. Kora, herself a former member of the Imperium, seeks redemption — and revenge — when the corrupt government threatens her new home.

What is Rebel Moon about?
Snyder directs Rebel Moon from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. The two-part saga kicks off next month with Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire. The film is getting a limited theatrical release starting Friday, December 15 ahead of its Netflix debut one week later on December 22. Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is due to hit the streaming platform in April 2024.
“When a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival,” an official synopsis for A Child of Fire reads.
“Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge,” it continues. “As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed.”
In addition to Boutella as Kora, the film stars Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Doona Bae as Nemesis, Ray Fisher as Darrian Bloodaxe, Cleopatra Coleman as Devra Bloodaxe, Jena Malone as Harmada, Ed Skrein as Admiral Atticus Noble, Fra Fee as Regent Balisarius, E. Duffy as Millius, Staz Nair as Tarak, and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy. Stuart Martin, Corey Stoll, Cary Elwes, Alfonso Herrera, Rhian Rees, and Ray Porter have been cast in undisclosed roles.
Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire premieres December 22, 2023 on Netflix. Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver follows suit on April 19, 2024.
