Star Wars Rey Movie script Steven Knight

Star Wars: Script for Daisy Ridley Solo Movie Reportedly Due in November

The script for Daisy Ridley’s upcoming solo Star Wars movie is reportedly expected to be given to Lucasfilm by the end of November 2023.

According to a recent article from Star Wars News Net, Steven Knight’s script for the upcoming Star Wars movie starring Ridley’s Rey is expected to be given to Lucasfilm around Thanksgiving, November 23, 2023. Barring any major issues with the script, this means Lucasfilm should have time to review and give notes back to Knight by Christmas so that production on the film can move forward in 2024.

Prior to the start of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike in May 2023, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy said in April 2023 that the movie’s script was about a month and a half away from being finished.

“We’ve been working on that [film] for a few years and all of that feeds into our overall storytelling,” she said via Yahoo. “So we’ve just got to a point now where we’ve got a wonderful writer in Steven Knight, he’s come on board and we’re going to see a script probably in the next month and a half that we’ve been working on for quite a while. So we’re getting close.”

What else do we know about Daisy Ridley’s new Star Wars movie?

In April 2023, Kennedy announced at Star Wars Celebration that Ridley would return to the franchise for a new movie that focuses on Rey rebuilding a new Jedi Order following the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The movie is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who previously directed episodes of 2022’s Ms. Marvel. Knight’s past credits include writing screenplays for 2013’s Locke (which he also directed), 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and 2021’s Spencer. He additionally created the Cillian Murphy-led series Peaky Blinders.

Further casting details, plot information, and an official release date for Ridley’s new Star Wars movie have not yet been announced.
