The Marvels box office tracking

The Marvels Box Office Tracking Better Than Previously, Still Far Below Captain Marvel

The Marvels is now tracking for a $75-80 million opening weekend, which is better than previously believed but still significantly below Captain Marvel’s opening.

On October 12, 2023, Box Office Pro reported that The Marvels was on track to make $50-75 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. Deadline is now reporting that The Marvels could make $75-80 million in the United States when it opens on November 10, 2023.

Captain Marvel, comparatively, made $153.4 million at the United States box office during its opening weekend. It went on to make $426.8 million at the domestic box office and $1.128 billion worldwide.

In February 2023, Marvel Studios released Ant-Man and the Wasp:  Quantumania, which made $106.1 million during the first three days of its release. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, meanwhile, opened to $118.4 million.

What is The Marvels about?

“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence,” the official synopsis reads. “But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, Park Seo-joon as Prince Yan, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

The Marvels releases theatrically in the United States on November 10, 2023, from Marvel Studios.
