Venom 3 Working Title Hints at Future Spider-Man Universe Villain

The working title for Venom 3 may have been revealed thanks to a report that hints at the potential inclusion of a new comic book character.

What is the Venom 3 working title?

According to their latest report, The Cosmic Circus notes that the Venom 3 working title is Orwell. At first glance, it may seem like an innocuous name, or perhaps a reference to famous author George Orwell, who wrote classics like Animal Farm and 1984. However, the name Orwell does pop up in the world of Marvel Comics and does share a connection with Venom.

In Marvel Comics, the character of Orwell Taylor has appeared alongside Venom before. In the comics, Taylor is an ex-general of the United States army and develops a grudge against Venom after the symbiote kills one of his sons.

In the process, Taylor creates a group known as the Jury, who’s main mission was to bring justice to Venom. In the comics, the group wears suits of armor designed around the infamous Iron Man costume, although they fail to stop Venom in any meaningful way.

The Cosmic Circus also notes that Taylor was introduced in the comic book event Venom: Lethal Protector, a six-part series that saw Eddie Brock move out of New York and into San Francisco, where he’s followed by Taylor who seeks revenge.

Of course, it’s unclear whether or not Venom 3 will adapt any of this, as the working title could be entirely unrelated.

Venom 3 will be directed by Kelly Marcel, who is also writing the film. Marcel previously wrote both 2018’s Venom and its sequel along with Fifty Shades of Grey and Saving Mr. Banks. It will once again star Tom Hardy, with Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple also set to appear, and is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.
