Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Hits Disney+ on June 22

It seems like only yesterday that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit theaters and wowed audiences with its blend of stunning visuals and Easter eggs for longtime Marvel fans. And while its theatrical run is far from over, its streaming release is just around the corner. Marvel has confirmed that the sequel will arrive on Disney+ on June 22. Check out the official announcement below.

The film arrived more than five years after the original Doctor Strange bowed in 2016. Since then, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts has appeared in four other MCU films. But Strange’s latest solo vehicle hinted at big things to come in the franchise’s future. It also marked director Sam Raimi’s triumphant return to the superhero genre, combining his penchant for supernatural horror with the lessons he learned on the original Spider-Man trilogy.

Doctor Strange 2 has raked in more than $879 million worldwide, surpassing its 2016 predecessor and making it the highest-grossing film of 2022 so far. The film also set a new first-day sales record on Fandango when tickets went on sale back in April. And until it was dethroned by Top Gun: Maverick last weekend, it maintained the top spot at the box office for three weeks in a row.

Marvel has yet to announce Doctor Strange 3. But considering how the new film left things, it’s a safe bet that the studio has a pretty good idea of where Stephen Strange is headed next.
