Sony Pushes Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse To 2023
If you were looking forward to seeing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse later this year, then we’ve got some bad news. The most recent release date was October 7, 2022. However, Sony Pictures has now pushed the Into the Spider-Verse sequel back to June 2, 2023. Additionally, the film no longer has “Part One” as part of the title. Regardless, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 2 is still happening. It will now be released in theaters on March 29, 2024. Sony pushes Spider-Man.
As seen in last fall’s preview, Across the Spider-Verse will pick up shortly after the events of Into the Spider-Verse. We know that Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy will reunite early in the film. The preview also confirmed that Spider-Man 2099 (a.k.a. Miguel O’Hara) will have a bigger role in the sequel.

The other major news out of Sony today is that the Madame Web movie now has a release date. According to Sony, it will hit theaters on July 7, 2023. That film is based upon a very obscure Spider-Man supporting character who has never even had her own comic book series. Dakota Johnson has already signed on to play Madame Web, which suggests that Sony may go with Julia Carpenter, the successor of the original Madame Web in the comics. Sydney Sweeney will also star in the movie in an undisclosed role.
For the moment, Sony’s Kraven the Hunter remains perched on January 13, 2023. But that could always change, especially in light of today’s news.
