The return of Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum to the Jurassic Park franchise is bound to fill theater seats when Jurassic World: Dominion arrives in just two months. Especially since they are supposed to have meaningful roles in the highly-anticipated sequel. Now, two of the original 1993 film’s cast members have shed new light on their return. Jurassic Park actors.
Dominion marks the first time that Neill, Dern, and Goldblum have shared the screen together since Jurassic Park dazzled moviegoers almost 30 years ago. That’s one reason why director Colin Trevorrow was nervous about asking them to come back. In a new cover story for Empire, Trevorrow noted that he’s “not Steven Spielberg,” after all. But some of the legacy actors saw shades of the Spielberg in him regardless.
“That’s the guy he reminds me most of,” said Neill. “And I don’t say that lightly – I really don’t.”
Dern said she was intrigued by what Trevorrow had in mind for the sequel’s returning cast members. She also promised that audiences are really going to feel the weight of their reunion on the big screen.

“Colin was really keen to make it matter,” added Dern. “We discover what it would feel like if these three characters came back together, and how they would feel about each other. And it’s delicious.”
Additionally, Dern was happy to once again act with animatronic dinosaurs as opposed to CGI creations. The above photo from Dominion shows Dern’s character, Dr. Ellie Sattler, caring for a baby Nasutoceratops, which also happens to be the result of practical effects. But it doesn’t sound like she or any of her other co-stars are worried about being upstaged in the film.
“There’s no question this is a dinosaur show,” added Neill. “And it’s these fantastic creatures that have been made that are going to be the stars.”
Jurassic World: Dominion will hit theaters on June 10.
