Considering the degree to which rings serve as a plot point in all Sonic the Hedgehog adventures, it was only a matter of time before a wedding gag came up. In the latest clip from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, there’s been a major mix-up. Tom Wachowski (James Marsden), Sonic’s new father figure, works out that one of Sonic’s dimension-hopping rings has been switched with a wedding ring. And he’s gonna need it back, even if it’s the least convenient time possible. Sonic and Tails need an escape hatch.
And, well…they get it. Much to the dismay of most in attendance at the wedding. Check out the new clip below:

Paramounts official synopsis for the sequel: “The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”
