The Blue Beetle movie just added three new names to the cast, according to The Wrap. Belissa Escobedo will play Milagro Reyes, sister of the title superhero Jaime Reyes. The character previously appeared in the animated Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, voiced by Kari Wahlgren, and in the Injustice 2 video game. Escobedo previously appeared in Hulu’s Sex Appeal and Quibi’s Don’t Look Deeper.
Bruna Marquezine will play Penny, Jaime’s love interest, described as the female lead. It’s not clear if she’s directly based on a comics character, though it’s possible she could be Penny Booker, daughter of villain Major Disaster. Marquezine, who has acted since the age of seven, is mostly known for telenovelas in her native Brazil.

Finally, What We Do in The Shadows and Reacher actor Harvey Guillén will join the production in a secret role. He’s only five years older than Marquezine, which makes it unlikely he’d play Major Disaster to her Penny.
Cobra Kai‘s Xolo Maridueña stars as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, a teenager who bonds with an alien scarab that fuses to his spine and gives him powered armor. The Angel Manuel Soto-directed film gets a theatrical release in Aug 18 of next year.
