Marvel fans got their first look at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last month when the film’s teaser trailer was attached to Spider-Man: No Way Home as a post-credits scene. The movie was a mere six months away. However, Benedict Cumberbatch and director Sam Raimi were still working on additional photography on the upcoming sequel. Luckily, the production has officially wrapped. In a recent interview with Deadline, Cumberbatch confirmed that reshoots were completed last Saturday. Benedict Cumberbatch wraps.
Cumberbatch shared the news while discussing his latest SAG Award nomination for his critically-acclaimed performance in The Power of the Dog. And he still sounds happy that audiences are excited about his return as Stephen Strange.
“I’m thrilled at the reaction to the teaser trailer at the end of Spider-Man,” said Cumberbatch. “I’m thrilled at the reaction that film’s been having. I mean, it’s been a bit of a moment, to be honest.”

Now that filming is done, Cumberbatch and the movie’s crew members can finally relax. The Hollywood Reporter previously described the sequel’s reshoots as “significant,” with various sources disagreeing as to whether such a long period of additional photography was normal. Screenwriter Michael Waldron was also on hand to pen some new scenes.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on May 6.
