Earlier this year, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt signed on to headline the animated Super Mario movie as the voice of Mario himself. However, Pratt isn’t done adding to his voiceover resume. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pratt will also provide the voice of Garfield in a new animated movie.
Garfield is based on the long-running comic strip created by Jim Davis. It features a sardonic orange tabby who hates Mondays and loves lasagna. Garfield lives with his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and Jon’s dog, Odie. The late Lorenzo Music originated the role of Garfield on television. Regardless, Bill Murray took over the role for two previous animated features. While the earlier Garfield movies were live-action and CGI hybrids, the new film will be fully animated.

Finding Nemo co-writer David Reynolds penned the new Garfield movie. Another Disney veteran, Mark Dindal (Chicken Little), is slated to direct Garfield’s new big screen adventure. Dindal and Reynolds previously collaborated on Disney’s The Emperor’s New Grove.
Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson’s Alcon Entertainment will produce Garfield. The animation will be provided by DNEG Animation. Sony Pictures has also signed on to distribute the film worldwide, except in China.
