It’s early days yet to see much from the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl film. But DC FanDome wasn’t going to let fans of Barbara Gordon come away totally empty-handed (or empty-eyed). After revealing that there would indeed be a cowl on the costume, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah showed off a piece of Batgirl concept art. It shows, admittedly from a long way away, the cape, cowl, and indeed, red hair of Batgirl. And yes, finally we’re getting back to a Gotham City where heroes brood on top of gargoyles.

Note that the city itself seems to have the purple and yellow color palette of the classic outfit. Leslie Grace, who is not usually seen with red hair, will play Batgirl. J.K. Simmons is expected to return as Commissioner Gordon, though it isn’t clear if he’ll be the exact same one from the Snyderverse. It’s a big multiverse out there, and some variants can look the same.
HBO Max’s Batgirl is currently in preproduction.
