Disney’s Haunted Mansion Reboot Adds Rosario Dawson

Just one day after drafting Owen Wilson to visit The Haunted Mansion, the movie’s producers have found another A-lister to join the reboot’s ensemble cast. Deadline brings word that Rosario Dawson has booked a role in the upcoming film.

LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish are co-headlining the film, with Wilson and Dawson playing supporting roles. Disney is still keeping plot details close to the chest. However, the reboot is expected to follow the adventures of a family that moves into the titular abode, which makes it sound similar to the last Haunted Mansion movie. Technically, that film didn’t fare so well when it hit theaters in 2003. Regardless, the success of Jungle Cruise suggests that there is still a market for movies based on Disney theme park rides.

The new Haunted Mansion movie marks the latest addition to Dawson’s already jam-packed schedule. She recently wrapped filming on Kevin Smith’s Clerks III. She is also set to reprise her Mandalorian role as Ahsoka Tano in her own series on Disney+. Additionally, Dawson is headlining HBO Max’s DMZ adaptation.

Bad Hair director Justin Simien is helming The Haunted Mansion from a script by Katie Dippold, who previously co-wrote the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are producing the movie through Rideback, with Nick Reynolds serving as executive producer.

Disney hasn’t announced a release date for The Haunted Mansion.
