Most of the praise for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has singled out the action as one of the film’s greatest strengths. Now, Marvel has released a new featurette that explores how the filmmakers crafted some of its most memorable fight scenes. You can check it out for yourself below.
The featurette devotes a lot of time to the bus fight that’s been teased in earlier previews. It features new insight from several behind-the-scenes players, including fight coordinator Andy Cheng, who claims that “everything had to be perfect” for the sequence to work. However, it was also a brand new experience for director Destin Daniel Cretton, who cut his teeth on the indie circuit before joining the MCU.

Additionally, the movie’s cast and crew discuss the “world-class stunt teams” who helped bring Shang-Chi to life. Marvel clearly spared no expense when it came to the film’s martial arts component. The studio even recruited the world champion of Tai chi to train Fala Chen, who plays Shang’s mother, Ying Li.
But as Simu Liu reminds us, the film covers a wide variety of disciplines, including Wing Chun and other “regional styles” of kung fu. Moreover, it sounds like a lot of the actors have their own fighting style. According to Tony Leung (Wenwu), his technique is “a symbol of the aggressiveness and anger of [his] character.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3.
