Next month, the DCEU will make room for several new characters making their live-action debut in The Suicide Squad. Of course, this new incarnation of Task Force X has many obscure faces that might elude even the most seasoned DC fans. However, James Gunn and some of the actors from the film have them covered. Warner Bros. has released a new featurette that breaks down The Suicide Squad’s major players.

The featurette includes tons of new footage from the upcoming film with running commentary from Gunn and his cast, who also offer provide some additional insight into what makes their characters tick. In the case of Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, that seems to be his relationship with his daughter, as played by Storm Reid. At one point, Reid’s character is shown visiting her father in prison, and it doesn’t look like their conversation went well. We’re also treated to some new King Shark scenes that put his ravenous appetite on display. But it’s also his childlike disposition that made him Joel Kinnaman’s favorite character. According to Kinnaman, King Shark is “really stupid, but also really kind.”

Gunn similarly relished the opportunity to feature Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in a story that hearkens back to the character’s appearances in the comics as well as in DC’s animated universe. Additionally, Mayling Ng gushed over playing Mongal in the film, calling her “a super-bitch.” We also hear new remarks from Pete Davidson (Blackguard), Nathan Fillioin (T.D.K.), David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), and Flula Borg (Javelin).
The Suicide Squad hits theaters and HBO Max on August 6.
