Borderlands Reveals the First Look at the Film’s Main Characters

Lionsgate continues to release new character images for its upcoming Borderlands adaptation. Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis has previously offered a shadowy glimpse of Cate Blanchett’s protagonist, Lilith. However, the photo only presented Blanchett’s character in silhouette. But now, the movie’s official Twitter account has also debuted five new images teasing the film’s ensemble cast.

The new shots also gives fans their first looks at Kevin Hart’s Roland, Ariana Greenblatt’s Tiny Tina, Curtis’ Dr. Tannis, Florian Munteanu’s Krieg, and Claptrap the robot, who will be voiced by Jack Black. As with the photo of Lilith, the images don’t reveal much. Regardless, fans of the original video games should be able to recognize certain key visual details, like Roland’s soldier garb, Tina’s bunny ears, and also Claptrap’s trapezoidal shape. The original Borderlands game allowed players to control one of four characters, including Roland and also Lilith. However, it sounds like the film adaptation is putting Lilith at the center of its story. The supporting cast also includes Édgar Ramírez, Olivier Richters, Haley Bennett, Janina Gavankar, Gina Gershon, and more.

Eli Roth is directing Borderlands from a screenplay by Craig Mazin. However, Lionsgate hasn’t announced a release date for the film.
