Report: Marvel Studios’ Blade Reboot Will Film In Summer 2022

While The Hollywood Reporter‘s Black Superman story was the breakout report of the morning, THR’s article also had a key update for Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot. According to THR, Blade was originally slated to begin filming in September of this year. However, Blade‘s production has now been pushed to July 2022 “so that the studio can spend time working on the Stacy Osei-Kuffour-penned script.”

The reason it came up in this report is that Marvel and Warner Bros. Pictures are both looking for a Black director to helm their respective projects. THR also notes that “some potential directors have met with both studios for both films, even as one agent said the process was ‘phenomenally early.'”

Wesley Snipes’ Blade movie set the stage for the modern superhero films when it hit theaters in 1998. Snipes reprised his role in two additional movies before Sticky Fingaz starred in the Blade TV series in 2006. Since then, the character has been dormant in live-action.
