Jacob Tremblay Joins Peter Dinklage in The Toxic Avenger Reboot

It’s been several months since Legendary chose Peter Dinklage to star in its upcoming reboot of The Toxic Avenger franchise. But now, the studio has finally added another fresh face to the cast. Deadline is reporting that Jacob Tremblay will have a role in the film as well.

The story doesn’t share who Tremblay will play in the reboot. But according to the film’s logline, the reboot will follow Dinklage’s mutant superhero as he “races to save his son” (among other innocent civilians) “from the forces of corporate greed,” so it’s possible that this role will go to Tremblay. Legendary is keeping the rest of the plot details under wraps for now. However, the movie is apparently “steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool.”

Tremblay burst onto the scene when he starred opposite Brie Larson in Room in 2015. Since then, he has appeared in Wonder, The Predator, Good Boys, and Doctor Sleep. He also voiced Damian Wayne/Robin on two episodes of HBO Max’s Harley Quinn animated series. Next up, Tremblay will provide the voice of Flounder in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore) is writing and directing the reboot. Troma Entertainment founders and original Toxic Avenger directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are also onboard as producers. Legendary still hasn’t set a release date for the new film.
