Kombat Begins In New Mortal Kombat TV Spot

In just over a month, Mortal Kombat‘s reboot movie is hitting HBO Max and theaters. And the battle to save Earthrealm may go beyond the tournament in Outworld. HBO Max has released a new Mortal Kombat TV spot that brings the Kombatants together. However, not all of the fighters are on the same page.

For example, Kano (Josh Lawson) and Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) are at each others’ throats. Additionally,  Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim) will reignite their legendary feud. There’s also a glimpse at Scorpion’s origin, before he became more than human.

Here’s the official description of the film:

“A washed-up mixed martial arts fighter named Cole Young is unaware of his hidden lineage or why he is being hunted down by Sub-Zero of the Lin-Kuei clan of assassins. Concerned for the safety of his family, he seeks out a clique of fighters that were chosen to defend Earthrealm in a high-stakes battle against the forces of Outworld.”

Jessica McNamee also stars as Sonya Blade, alongside Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, and Max Huang as Kung Lao. Additionally, Chin Han will portray the evil sorcerer, Shang Tsung. Other villains slated to appear include Josh Lawson as Kano, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Daniel Nelson as Kabal, AND Elissa Cadwell as Nitara.

Mortal Kombat will debut on HBO Max and in theaters on April 16.
