T.I. Won’t Be Back For Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

For the last few weeks, Tip “T.I.” Harris and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, have been embroiled in a bizarre scandal. Multiple women have come forward with sexual abuse allegations against the couple spanning a period of 16 years. Now, the fallout from the controversy appears to have cost the rapper/actor one of his most high-profile film gigs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, T.I. won’t return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

THR’s report doesn’t confirm the reason for T.I.’s departure. However, the news comes hours after a lawyer representing 11 women asked authorities in California and Georgia to open an investigation into the Harris family’s conduct. Aside from sexual abuse, the charges against the couple include forced ingestion of illegal narcotics, kidnapping, false imprisonment, intimidation, assault, and harassment.

T.I. and his wife have denied the charges through their own attorney. But shortly after the scandal was made public last month, VH1 shut down production on the couple’s TV series, T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle.

T.I. made his first MCU appearance in the original Ant-Man as Dave, part of Scott Lang’s crew alongside Michael Peña’s Luis and David Dastmalchian’s Kurt. The film’s 2018 sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, ended with the gang securing a big client for their X-Con security consulting business and preventing the company from shutting down. Unfortunately, it looks like Dave won’t be around in Quantumania to bask in their newfound success.

Kevin Feige announced Quantumania’s official title during Disney’s Investor Day livestream in December. Jonathan Majors and Kathryn Newton will also appear in the sequel as Kang the Conqueror and Cassie Lang, respectively. Petyon Reed is also returning to direct the film from a script written by Jeff Loveness.

Marvel Studios still hasn’t announced a release date for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
