Warner Bros. Debuts Mortal Kombat Character Motion Posters

Hardcore fans of the iconic video game saga asked for more promotional material and Warner Bros. delivered Mortal Kombat character motion posters, finally. While the official trailer will be released in a few hours, fans can take a closer look at the cast of the upcoming reboot. The movie should have debuted in January 2021, but the COVID-19 outbreak forced the producers to reschedule its release. The reboot wrapped principal photography in December 2019, and it was originally going to reconvene for reshoots in spring 2020, but the pandemic forced them to postpone to fall.

So far, Warner Bros. has released motion posters for some of the main characters from the movie overnight, including Liu Kang, Sonya, Raiden, and many others. However, the producers may still drop a few more in the next few hours. For example, there is no poster for Scorpion, but it might be released later. In the meantime, you can check the Mortal Kombat character posters here below.

The official synopsis for the movie directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Greg Russo together with Dave Callaham reads:

“MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark.

“Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana—the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?”

The reboot of Mortal Kombat will debut both in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16.
