Well, AMC’s The Walking Dead missed a big chance to enroll Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista. Apparently, the former WWE champion is a big fan of zombies and would have loved to play one in the long-term fan-favorite show. Unfortunately for him, and his fans, Bautista’s dream never came true as The Walking Dead producers rejected him for being too big for the part.
“I’m a zombie fan,” he said while talking with Empire. “I tried to get on Walking Dead for years. I said I would come and play a zombie for free, but they said, ‘You’re too big!’”

But in the business world one should never say never. While Bautista won’t make his dream come true anytime soon, his upcoming movie will involve zombies. The former WWE star will portray Scott Ward, a man leading a band of thieves into the city’s borders amidst a zombie apocalypse, in Zack Snyder‘s Army of the Dead. Since the actor said that he would be more selective for his next roles in the past, he agreed to work on this one after discovering that there is more than meets the eye at first.
“For me, there had to be something special about a zombie film for me to sign up,” he added. “What sets us apart is the heist. But there’s a whole bunch of different layers to this film.”
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for Army of the Dead. However, the film should debut somewhere in 2021 on the streaming service.
