Raya and the Last Dragon Big Game Spot Teases Action and Humor

It looks like Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon will be closer in tone to the beloved animated Mulan than the less-beloved live-action take. Once more, a heroine clearly gifted in combat teams with a wise-cracking dragon, voiced by a comedically gifted actor. (Awkwafina, in this case.)

Kelly Marie Tran voices the adventurous Raya, who looks like she can more than hold her own in battle. Take a look at the trailer below:

Per the official description, “Raya and the Last Dragon takes us on an exciting, epic journey to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.”

Like the live-action Mulan, Raya and the Last Dragon will debut on Disney+ premier access Mar 5, for an extra fee initially.
