Tom Holland Plays Coy About Multiple Spider-Men Rumors

All roads lead to the multiverse in the MCU. Back in December, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige admitted that Spider-Man 3 will tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Unsurprising, since Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in both. The next Spidey flick also has Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina reprising their roles as as Electro and Doctor Octopus. Previous Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are also rumored to return…but not confirmed.

During his recent appearance on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Holland sidestepped the question about working with his predecessors with a joke.

“Beats me, I don’t know. If they are, they haven’t told me yet…” claimed Holland. “That would be something that Marvel would do. I watch the film and be like ‘So that’s who that tennis ball was!’”

However, Holland had nothing but good things to say about Garfield and Maguire.

“I met Andrew once, I met him at the BAFTAs,” recalled Holland. “He was lovely. He was a really nice bloke and we had a nice chat. It was quite soon after Spider-Man: Homecoming had come out. He was really positive and nice. I’ve bumped into Tobey a few times at different parties in LA. He was really nice. They seem to be lovely, really nice people. I hope they enjoy our movies. I hope they enjoy our Spider-Man’s.”

Spider-Man 3 will hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
