Batman: Soul of the Dragon Cast Shares Background About Their Characters

Next week, the animated film, Batman: Soul of the Dragon, will feature a throwback take on the Dark Knight. It’s set in the ’70s, roughly ten years after Bruce Wayne trained to be a martial artist under O-Sensei. Bruce also learned how to fight alongside some memorable characters including Richard Dragon, Bronze Tiger, and Lady Shiva. Now, IGN has released four behind-the-scenes clips from the movie. In each video, the Soul of the Dragon cast shares a few insights about their respective roles.

First, David Giuntoli (Grimm) speaks about his part as Bruce Wayne before he was Batman. During his time at Nanda Parbat, there’s no need for Bruce to wear a mask or a costume. But don’t worry, Bruce will still wear the cape and cowl in the ’70s segments.

Next is Mark Dacascos, who voices Richard Dragon. Within this film, Richard is a superspy following his stint with O-Sensei. He may also be the only real friend that Bruce has at Nanda Parbat.

Additionally, Kelly Hu spoke about her role as Lady Shiva. In the past, Shiva was O-Sensei’s best student, and the most devoted to his teachings. However, she takes a darker turn years later. In the regular comics continuity, Shiva is one of the deadliest assassins in the DC Universe.

Finally, Michael Jai White talks about Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger, a role he previously played on Arrow. White also indicated that he feels a certain kinship to Bronze Tiger because of their similar background.

Batman: Soul of the Dragon will hit digital on January 12, 2021, and 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray on January 26, 2021.
